A reliable smart home starts with a strong, secure, and organized network. At DevTel, we design and install centralized network racks that house essential components like your router/firewall, patch panel, switch, and the server running
systems such as Home Assistant and Frigate.
While many modern homes are already wired with Ethernet, this isn’t always sufficient — especially when adding security cameras. We run high-quality Ethernet cabling from the network rack to each camera location to ensure consistent connectivity
and power. Using PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology, our cameras are powered directly through the network cable — no need for separate power outlets at each install point.
We also recommend hardwired access points to extend your Wi-Fi coverage. These provide faster, more reliable connections than traditional wireless mesh systems. While mesh is an option, it tends to be less stable and more prone to signal
degradation — especially in larger homes or those with tricky layouts.
With DevTel, your home's digital backbone is rock-solid — setting the stage for seamless automation, surveillance, and control.
Although we can work with your existing equipment, we recommend the following network devices
Since Ubiquiti can be integrated to Home Assistant, we can add controls that will allow you to turn on/off a group of network devices. This is useful when you have children.
* Although WiFi Mesh is on the list of items, we do not recommend using it. it tends to be less stable and more prone to signal degradation — especially in larger homes or those with tricky layouts.
Note: For in-wall network cable installation, we partner with a trusted third-party cabling specialist. Depending on your home's layout, some drywall patching and paint touch-ups may be necessary after the work is completed.
